As President and General Manager of
Deseret Forwarding International, Inc., David Escobar leads Deseret’s global operations
team and personally manages Deseret’s business relationships with many other moving
agents worldwide.
Under David’s leadership Deseret has grown to become one of the industry’s Top 10
military forwarders and an emerging leader in commercial household goods forwarding,
providing a full spectrum of door-to-door moving services to government as well
as local and international moving agents worldwide.
David started at Deseret as a clerk, after which he quickly and continually took
on broader operational responsibilities. His hands-on operations experience exposed
him to all facets of the military and commercial forwarding business and enabled
him to fully understand the complexities of international moves and the customer
needs unique to cross-border moves. These experiences prepared David for his current
role as chief operating officer – a role in which he continues to operate on the
“front line” to insure the delivery of quality and service in Deseret’s every move.
In recent years, David has spearheaded the company’s information technology initiatives
focused on the development of advanced systems. These robust systems, which encompass
the entire end-to-end process associated with the booking and fulfillment of complex
door-to-door moves, have enabled Deseret to manage efficiently tens of thousands
of shipments, while also enhancing Deseret’s service quality and interaction with
both international agent partners and persons moving.
David is a member of IAM YP 35 – the International Association of Movers Young Professionals
organization which is comprised of the industry’s leading young executives and managers
who share an enthusiastic commitment to the industry.
David’s interest in international forwarding evolved from his early love of large
oceangoing vessels and his exploration of exotic locales and cultures through voracious
reading of encyclopedias. These interests brought him to Deseret, a business which
enabled him to pursue these combined interests in a business context while still
a student living in El Paso, Texas – an international port city, located 740 miles
from a deep water port. David quickly developed a passion for the household goods
forwarding business, prompting him to forego an opportunity to attend Stanford University
so that he could work at Deseret while pursuing his college education. David earned
two Bachelor’s degrees, including a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, from
the University of Texas at El Paso.
A lifelong El Paso resident, David is married to his high school sweetheart. He
is an avid bird hunter and has developed some of his own recipes for preparing quail
and dove.
